Unidentified Whitley at Leconfield airfield.
On 10th August 1943 this 1484 Gunnery Flight aircraft collided with a 466 squadron Wellington that was parked at Leconfield airfield. A wing tip of the Wellington received minor damage but the Whitley is listed in the unit records as being undamaged.
Pilot - F/Sgt James William Jesse Butler RAFVR (1282513).
W/O Butler was killed on 12th August 1944 when 30 OTU Wellington BK562 crashed at Wilford, Nottinghamshire.
