During the evening of 18th February 1942 this 51 Squadron aircraft was flown on a basic circuits and landings training exercise using Dishforth airfield. On landing at 21.40hrs during one of these short flights the aircraft landed on a patch of frozen snow and the undercarriage collapsed. The undercarriage had been weakened by previous wear and tear.
