Blenheim Z7302 at Catfoss airfield.

On 31st August 1942 this 13 OTU aircraft was parked at Catfoss airfield when it was struck by an out-of-control Halifax BB196 which was making a hurried forced landing down wind. The Halifax was a visiting 76 Squadron aircraft while the Blenheim was a visiting 13 OTU aircraft, possibly landing at Catfoss after poor weather the previous day.

No crew.

Blenheim Z7392 was built to contract B1485/39 by Rootes Securities Ltd. at Speke and was awaiting collection in May 1941. It was initially taken on charge by 114 Squadron at Leuchars on an unknown date in 1941 almost before they moved to West Raynham on 19th July 1941. In early 1942 the aircraft was transferred to 13 OTU at Bicester. As a result of the collision on 31st August 1942 Cat.E/FA damage was recorded and the aircraft was written off.
