On 19th November 1942 this 101 Squadron aircraft had been flown for an airtest lasting thirty minutes, on landing at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield the tail wheel began to show a fault. The problem was investigated and the tail wheel mounting was found to have a technical defect. A modification to correct the problem had not yet been made to this aircraft.

Lancaster W4324 was delivered as new to 101 Squadron at Holme on Spalding Moor on 21st October 1942. On 19th November 1942 it sustained tail wheel damage that saw Cat.Ac/FA damage be the damage assessment and that saw it repaired on site. It was returned to 101 Squadron on 12th December 1942 but was then damaged again on 14th December 1942 that saw the undercarriage collapse on landing. Cat.Ac/FA damage was again the damage assessment and it was again repaired on site. Once servicable it was returned to 101 Squadron though the date is not on the AM Form 78. It was still with 101 Squadron on 22nd September 1943 when it failed to return from Ops to Hanover with the loss of the whole crew. Cat.Em damage was recorded and it was struck off charge on 30th September 1943.
