On 18th November 1942 this 101 Squadron aircraft was flown on a test flight, after it landed at Holme on Spalding Moor at 14.45hrs the pilot realised the aircraft's tail wheel was not working correctly. The problem was investigated and the tail wheel mounting was found to have a technical defect. A modification to correct the problem had not yet been made to this aircraft.

Lancaster W4313 was delivered as new to 101 Squadron at Holme on Spalding Moor on 16th October 1942 and as a result of the mishap at Holme on Spalding Moor on 18th November 1942 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the damage assessment. It was repaired on site and returned to 101 Squadron on 24th December 1942. The aircraft failed to return from Ops to Wilhelmshaven on 12th February 1943 that saw it's then crew listed as missing with no known grave. Cat.Em damage was recorded on the paperwork and it was struck off charge on the same date.
