Lysander V9899 at Yeadon airfield.

On 8th December 1942 this 25 O.T.U. aircraft was landing at Yeadon airfield in a cross wind when it crashed. Minor damage to the aircraft resulted. It was repaired on site at Yeadon and returned to 25 O.T.U.'s home airfield of Finningley on 30th January 1943 but 25 O.T.U. were in process of being wound-up so on 22nd March 1943 it was flown to 29 O.T.U..

Lysander V9899 was built to contract B.54504/39 by the Westland Aircraft Company Ltd. at Yeovil and was awaiting collection in January 1942. It was initially placed in MU store until being taken on charge by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley. As a result of the accident at Yeadon on 8th December 1942 minor Cat.A(c)/FA damage resulted and it was repaired on site at Yeadon. It was returned to 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 30th January 1943 but all flying activity had ceased there on 7th January 1943. 25 O.T.U. disbanded on 1st February 1943. The aircraft remained at Finningley until being transferred to 29 O.T.U. at North Luffenham on 22nd March 1943. It later went to an MU store and was struck off charge on 1st September 1943.
