On 18th October 1942 this 25 O.T.U. aircraft suffered a problem with the hydraulic system while circling Finningley airfield while meant the undercarriage would not lower properly. The pilot made a landing at Finningley airfield at 17.55hrs but on just one main wheel, as the aircraft slowed it settled onto the wing of the un-lowered undercarriage leg and the aircraft received some damge.

Built to contract B.34864/39 by Boulton & Paul Aircraft Ltd. at Wolverhampton Defiant V1107 was awaiting collection in April 1941. It was taken on charge by 96 Squadron at Cranage a short time after completion and then moved with them to Wrexham on 21st October 1941. The published history of the aircraft has a number of gaps in it, on an unknown date in 1942 it was transferred to 60 OTU at East Fortune and then on another unknown date to 25 OTU at Finningley. As a result of this incident on 18th October 1942 the damage was assessed as repairable Cat.B/FA but this required it to be transported by road to Boulton & Paul Aircraft Ltd, for repair in works. During the repair it was converted to a target towing variant. On completion of the repair it was placed in long term MU storage before finally being taken on charge by the Station Flight at Speke. On an unknown date it was placed back in long term MU storage pending disposal before being struck off charge on 16th October 1945.
