Tiger Moth T7729 at Topcliffe airfield.

On 2nd December 1942 this aircraft was damaged at Topcliffe while being used by a 424 Squadron pilot.

Pilot - Sgt Albert Richard Sanderson RCAF (R/107792).

Albert Sanderson was posted to 424 Squadron at the end of October 1942 but only remained with them for a short period. His legs were too short to fully reach the rudder pedals of the Wellington so he requested a transfer to fly fighter / bombers. He later flew a Tour with 107 Squadron.
Tiger Moth T7729 was built to contract 20916/39 by Morris Motors Ltd. at Cowley and was awaiting collection in February 1941. After a period of MU storage it was taken on charge at Topcliffe by the Station Flight. As a result of the damage sustained there on 2nd December 1942 minor Cat.A/FA damage was the assessment and it was repaired on site and returned to Station Flight early in 1943. There are probably gaps in the published history of the aircraft, it next is traced to MU storage then appears on charge with 22 R.F.S. at Cambridge in 1947. It later transferred to 11 R.F.S. at Scone and was finally struck off charge while in MU store when it was scrapped on 21st August 1951.
