Tiger Moth T5670 at Brough airfield.

On 1st August 1942 this No.4 Elementary Flying Training School aircraft collided with Tiger Moth T7843 at a few feet above Brough airfield as this aircraft was coming in to land. Both aircraft crashed upside down and were were badly damaged. The pilot of this aircraft was landing following his first solo flight.

Pilot - LAC David John William Wilkins RAFVR (1607248). Minor injuries.


Tiger Moth T5670 was built to contract 20916/39 by Morris Motors Ltd. at Cowley and was awaiting collection in June 1940. After an unspecified period of MU storage it was taken on charge by 4 E.F.T.S. at Brough. As a result of this collision at Brough on 1st August 1942 Cat.E/FA damage was record on the paperwork after assessment.
