Beaufighter T5144 was built to contract B.41906/39 by Fairey Aviation Ltd. at Heaton Chapel, Stockport and was awaiting collection in May 1942. It was originally allocated to 235 Squadron at Sumburgh in June 1942 but this unit did not operate Beaufighter MkIVf's at the time so it was allocated to 236 Squadron at Wattisham but again the unit did not operate IVf's. It was eventually taken on charge by 2 (C)OTU at Catfoss on an unknown date. As a result of the crash there on 8th August 1942 Cat.E/FA damage was recorded and the aircraft was written off.
