Beaufighter T4826 at Catfoss airfield.

On 19th May 1942 the trainee pilot flying this aircraft is believed to have suffered radio failure during his flight, being inexperienced he made a very hard night-landing at Catfoss airfield and the aircraft sustained damage. The damage was later inspected and it was deemed enough to write the aircraft off.

Beaufighter T4826 was built to contract B.41906/39 by The Fairey Aviation Co. Ltd. at Heaton Chapel, Stockport and was awaiting collection in August 1941. It was taken on charge in October 1941 by 236 Squadron at Carew Cheriton but was transferred to 2 (C)OTU at Catfoss in February 1942. As a result of the damage sustained on 19th May 1943 Cat.E/FA damage was the assessment.
