Beaufighter T4772 at Catfoss airfield.
On 25th December 1941 Beaufighter T4772 of No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit, based at Catfoss airfield, had a Cat.B damage assessment made against it. Whether this related to damage resulting from a flying accident is not clear. The damage required it being repaired in a works factory.

Beaufighter T4772 was built to contract B.41908/39 by Fairey Aviation Ltd. at Stockport and was initially fown to 29 MU at High Ercall on 26th August 1941. On 27th September 1941 it was taken on charge by No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Catfoss. On 25th December 1941 it had a Cat.B damage assessment made against it and on 31st December 1941 it was taken to Rolls Royce Ltd. at Hucknall for a repair in works. On 6th January 1942 it moved to the Lancashire Aircraft Corporation Ltd at Samlesbury for further work to be done in works. On 13th June 1943 it was flown to 29 MU at High Ercall and on 7th November 1943 it was taken on charge by 9 (C) O.T.U. at Crosby on Eden. On 18th January 1944 it flew into cloud covered hills and crashed near Bewcastle, Cumberland killing the pilot. Cat.E2/FA damage was the damage assessment made and it was struck off charge.
