Beaufighter T4763 was built to contract B.41906/39 by the Fairey Aviation Co. Ltd. at Heaton Chapel and was awaiting collection in June 1941. It was taken on charge by 143 Squadron the following month and based at Thornaby. It then moved with 143 Squadron to Dyce on 19th July 1941 and to Sumburgh on 29th September 1941. 143 Squadron ceased operating Beaufighter MkIf's in December 1941 so the aircraft was transferred to 235 Squadron at Dyce. In May 1942 235 Squadron ceased operating Beaufighter MkIf's so the aircraft was transferred to 2 (C)OTU at Catfoss. As a result of the damage sustained near Driffield on 10th October 1942 Cat.B/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was dismantled and transported by road to the Lancashire Aircraft Corporation Ltd. at Burnley for repair. It was later re-assembled and test flown at Samlesbury before going into MU storage. On an unknown date in early 1943 it was taken on charge by 9 OTU at Crosby on Eden but crashed near Brampton on 25th May 1943. Cat.E2/FA damage was recorded and the aircraft written off.
