Defiant T4120 was built to contract B.34864/39 by Boulton & Paul Ltd. at Wolverhampton and was awaiting collection in August 1941. Almost immediately it was taken on charge by 410 Squadron at Drem but the unit was immediately detached to Ouston. On an unknown date it was transferred to 277 Squadron at Stapleford Tawney but this unit was then detached to Shoreham. On an unknown date it was converted to a Target Towing variant after which it briefly served with 7 A.G.S. at Stormy Down before moving to 1484 (Bombing) Gunnery Flight at Driffield. As a result of the damage on 3rd October 1942 minor Cat.A(c)/FA damage was the assessment and it was repaired on site and returned to the unit. In late 1943 it was flown into MU storage at 10 MU at Hullavington. On 20th January 1944 the aircraft was transferred to the Admiralty on the R.N.D.A. and was serviced and prepared for Fleet Air Arm use. In March 1944 it was taken on charge by 794 Squadron FAA at Charlton Horethorne but the following month it was placed in MU storage pending disposal. After this nothing more about the aircraft is recorded.
