Beaufighter T3241 at Catfoss airfield.
On 8th December 1942 this 2 (C)O.T.U. aircraft struck a hedge on take off from Catfoss damaging the undercarriage. The pilot continued with his take off but on return the undercarriage was found to be badly damaged. The port undercarriage leg probably collapsed on landing, the unit ORB states that the aircraft sustained damage to the port undercarriage, mainplane and engine were damaged.

Beaufighter T3241 was built to contract B.30264/39 by The Bristol Aeroplane Co.Ltd. at Filton and was awaiting collection in March 1941. It was taken on charge by 252 Squadron at Aldergrove soon after completion but was transferred to 143 Squadron at Aldergrove on 15th June 1941. 143 Squadron took the aircraft with them when they moved to Thornaby on 4th July 1941, to Dyce on 19th July 1941 and to Sumburgh on 29th September 1941. In December 1941 143 Squadron ceased operating Beaufighter MkIc's so, on 14th December 1941 it was placed in MU storage. On an unknown date in 1942 it was taken on charge by 2 (C)O.T.U. at Catfoss. As a result of the damage sustained on 8th December 1942 Cat.A(c)/FA damage was the assessment and it was repaired on site. By August 1943 it had been placed in MU storage when 2 (c)O.T.U. ceased operating the type. It was struck off charge on 21st February 1945.
