On 24th April 1942 this aircraft is listed as simply crashing at Clifton with minor damage being the assessment, there were no casualties reported. Nothing more is known about the incident.

Lysander T1709 was built to contract 23637/39 by Westland's at Yeovil and delivered to the RAF in January 1941 and was issued to 268 Squadron at Bury St.Edmunds in early 1941. At some later date it transferred to HQ Army Co-Operation Command Communications Flight at White Waltham and remained with them until it suffered a Cat.A/FA accident at Clifton on 24th April 1942. It was deemed beyond repair on site therefore Re-Cat.B and taken to works, here it was decided to convert the aircraft to Target Towing status. On completion of the repair and conversion it was issued to an AGS unit at Pembrey on an unknown date in 1942. It was eventually struck off charge on 13th November 1943 as a time expired airframe.
