At 12.30hrs on 23rd August 1942 this 460 Conversion Unit aircraft was being taxied around Breighton airfield to be used on a training flight and the pilot was trying to avoid running over some recently laid concrete. In positioning the aircraft towards the edge of the perimeter track the aircraft ran into a slight depression between the edge of the concrete and the grass surface, when the tail wheel ran over this it was torn off. The dangers were left unmarked by contractors so no blame was attached to either pilot in the aircraft.
