Oxford R6347 was built to contract B.20356/39 by The De Havilland Aircraft Co. Ltd. at Hatfield and was awaiting collection in August 1940 but was then placed into long term MU storage. On 16th January 1941 it was taken on charge by 15 SFTS at Kidlington who moved to Leconfield on 20th February 1942. As a result of the mishap there on 27th February 1942 Cat.A/FA damage was the result of the assessment and it was probably repaired on site at Tadcaster and flown back to Leconfield. On 1st March 1942 15 SFTS was re-designated 15 (P)AFU and the aircraft remained on charge at Leconfield. On 3rd June 1942 it was flown into MU storage though this was only brief as on 25th July 1942 it was taken on charge by 9 (C)OTU at Aldergrove and was later transferred to 1 (C)OTU at Silloth on an unknown date. On 17th October 1943 it was transferred to 489 Squadron at Leuchars, then on 13th December 1943 it transferred to the care of 455 Squadron and based at Leuchars. It moved to Langham with this unit on 13th April 1944 and was struck off charge on 25th June 1944 while at Langham.
