Proctor P6178 was originally ordered as a Percival Vega Gull to contract 975967/39 but it was completed as a Proctor MkI by Percival Aircraft Ltd at Luton. It was delivered into MU storage in June 1940 and issued to 400 Squadron RCAF (Army Co-Op Command) at Old Sarum on an unknown date for communication duties. It later transferred to 4 Squadron at Clifton for similar work, with no date specified in its history. It was reported as deemed beyond repair on 14th December 1942 with Cat.E2/FA damage being recorded.
