Hudson N7280 was built to contract 791587/38 by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation at Burbank, California, USA and was transported by sea to the UK, arriving at Liverpool Docks in July 1939. From there it was taken by road to the Lockheed Assembly Division (UK) Ltd. at Speke where it was assembled and tested before being taken on chage by 224 Squadron at Leuchars on 29th August 1939. On 17th October 1939 it was transferred to 233 Squadron. 4 MU did some form of work on it from 8th August 1940 and it returned to 233 Squadron once complete. It was transferred to No.1(C)O.T.U. at Silloth on 22nd May 1941. It went to the A&AEE at Boscombe Down on 7th November 1941 but was then returned to No.1(C)O.T.U. at Silloth on 31st December 1941. On 1st March 1942 it received a Cat.Ac/FA damage assessment. It was repaired on site and returned to the unit on 28th March 1943 but they had just moved to Thornaby so it was flown over to join them. It was transferred to No.6(C)O.T.U. on 5th May 1942. It crashed at Thornaby on 22nd July 1942 which saw a Cat.Ac/FA damage assessment. It was repaired on site and returned to the unit on 20th November 1942. On 3rd December 1942 No.43 Group Damage Assessors inspected it and it must have required a repair as it was not until 8th May 1943 until it was returned to the unit. On 19th March 1943 it went to 29 MU and it was then transferred to the ATA on 25th April 1944. In December 1944 it went into storage at 22 MU and lasted until 28th June 1945 when it was struck off charge.
