Battle L5792 was built to contract 540408/36 by the Austin Motor Co. Ltd. at Longbridge and was delivered to 18 MU at Dumfries on 27th July 1940. On 23rd October 1940 it was taken on charge by the Station Flight at Newton but three days later was transferred to 103 Squadron, who were also based at Newton. In November 1940 the aircraft was placed in MU storage when 103 Squadron ceased operating the type. In 1941 it was taken on charge by No.4 Group Target Towing Flight at Driffield on an unknown date, but it appears to have been before the unit was re-designated 1484 Flight on 14th November 1941. On 27th October 1942 it sustained little damage, if any (as the unit orb states) and this would have resulted in Cat.U/FA damage being the assessment. On 29th January 1943 it was placed in MU storage at 27 MU at Shawbury. On 8th June 1943 the aircraft went to 47 MU (packing depot) at Sealand, on 15th July 1943 it was transferred to the RAAF and was shipped to Australia. On 4th October 1943 it arrived at No.1 A.P. at Geelong and after rebuilding and testing was taken on charge by the AGS at East Sale, Australia on 26th January 1944. On 22nd May 1945 the aircraft was placed in a stored reserve at A.G.S. at East Sale. On 11th June 1945 it was passed to No.1 C.R.D. at Werribee and on 11th June 1945 to No.1 S.D. at Werribee. In November 1947 paperwork appears to have been issued to write it off and it was eventually struck off charge on 8th February 1949.
