Tiger Moth K4256 at Brough airfield.
On 19th August 1942 this 4 EFTS aircraft is believed to have suffered damage at Brough airfield following a heavy landing. The incident is not mentioned in the 4 EFTS record book.

Tiger Moth K4256 was built to contract 307395/34 by The De Havilland Aircraft Co. Ltd. at Hatfield and was delivered to RAF Kenley Storage Section on 2nd January 1935. It was then flown to 1 ASU at Waddington on 21st February 1936 where it remained until 29th June 1937 when it was taken on charge by 16 E&RFTS at Shoreham. On 15th May 1939 it suffered minor damage (Cat.R/FA) following a heavy landing at Shoreham. It was repaired on site and on completion of repair it was transferred to 10 E&RFTS at Yatebury. On 28th October 1939 it was slightly damaged (Cat.R/FA) when it undershot on landing at Weston super Mare, hit mound of earth and the undercarriage was torn off. Again it was repaired on site and returned to the unit. On 30th December 1940 it was flown to D.H.Ltd., at Hatfield for repair but the reason for this is not known. On 1st March 1941 it was flown to 10 MU at Hullavington but a few days later on 20th March 1941 it was taken on charge by 4 EFTS at Brough. It received minor undercarriage damage on 6th January 1942 and in a landing accident on 19th August 1942, where minor Cat.A/FA damage was the assessment in both caes and it was repaired on site. On 12th June 1943 it was reported to have been damaged again, Cat.B/FA this time, but no details or location are known. This damage resulted in it being taken away by lorry and repaired in works at Taylorcraft Ltd. at Rearsby for repair beginning 8th July 1943. On 5th September 1943 it was flown to 20 MU at Aston Down for storage. It remained in store until 1st September 1945 when it was flown to join 43 OTU at Andover. On 21st October 1946 it was flown to 38 MU at Llandow pending disposal and appears to have hung around for nearly four years with it being struck off charge on 8th June 1950.
