Beaufighter EL336 at Catfoss airfield.
On 30th October 1942 this No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit ran off the runway on landing at Catfoss, the port undercarriage leg collapsed. The aircraft received damage to the port main plane and undercarriage.
Crew - Names unknown.
Beaufighter EL336 was built to contract B.65570/40 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at Old Mixon and was awaiting collection in August 1942. The aircraft was taken on charge by 2 (c)O.T.U. at Catfoss as new but the date it arrived is not yet known. As a result of the mishap on 30th October 1942 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the damage assessment, it was repaired on site and continued to serve with 2 (c)O.T.U. until the unit disbanded on 15th February 1944. The aircraft was placed in MU store pending disposal and was struck off charge on 29th November 1945.
