Beaufighter EL267 at Catfoss airfield.

On 27th October 1942 this 2 (C)OTU aircraft swung off the runway and bounced on landing at Catfoss airfield, the pilot then retracted the undercarriage to stop the aircraft. Both undercarriages main planes and centre section were damaged and the engines were shock loaded.

Beaufighter EL267 was built to contract B.65570/40 by The Bristol Aeroplane Co. Ltd. at the Old Mixon shadow factory at Weston super Mare and was awaiting collection in July 1942. It was taken on charge by 2 (C)OTU shortly after completion and as a result of the crash on 27th October 1942 Cat.E2/FA damage was the damage assessment after which it was written off.
