Beaufighter EL262 at Catfoss airfield.
On 29th December 1942 this 2 (C)O.T.U. aircraft swung on landing at Catfoss airfield at 04.12hrs, the undercarriage collapsed and the aircraft sustained damage.

Beaufighter EL262 was built to contract B.65570/40 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at the Old Mixon shadow factory and was awaiting collection in August 1942. A short period of MU storage followed before it was taken on charge by 2 (C)O.T.U. at Catfoss. As a result of the damage on 29th December 1942 minor Cat.A(c)/FA damage resulted and it was repaired on site. It continued to serve with 2 (C)O.T.U. until the unit disbanded on 15th February 1944 after which the aircraft was placed in long term MU storage. On 20th July 1945 it was struck off charge.
