The 25 O.T.U. orb states that on 12th July 1942 this 25 O.T.U. aircraft sustained a damaged tail unit but it does not state where the damage happened, though it was probably at their base at Finningley. Minor Cat.Ac damage resulted. Nothing more about the incident is known.

Wellington DV844 was built to contract B.124362/40 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd. at Hawarden. The aircraft was received by 48 MU on 30th April 1942 and it was taken on charge almost immediately by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 15th May 1942. As a result of the damage sustained on 12th July 1942 Cat.A(c)/FA damage was the assessment and it was repaired on site by a team from Fairfields. It was returned to 25 O.T.U. on 25th July 1942 but was transferred to 26 O.T.U. at Wing on 11th August 1942. It moved on to 15 O.T.U. at Harwell on 28th March 1943, 21 O.T.U. at Moreton in Marsh on 1st December 1943 and finally to 85 O.T.U. at Husbands Bosworth on 16th June 1944. This unit disbanded on 14th June 1945 so the aircraft was placed in MU store pending disposal. It was struck off charge on 8th November 1946 and scrapped.
