Wellington DV477 was built to contract B.124362/40 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd, at Hawarden and was awaiting collection in November 1941. It was initially received by 44 MU on 8th December 1941 and was taken on charge by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 23rd December 1941. It sustained minor damage in a flying accident on 23rd April 1942 that saw Cat.Ac/FA damage be the damage assessment and it be repaired on site by a team from Fairfields. It was returned to 25 O.T.U. on 2nd May 1942. As a result of the damage sustained on 12th August 1942 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the assessment which only required a repair on site, again by a team from Fairfields. The aircraft was returned to 25 O.T.U. on 29th August 1942. It was transferred to 16 O.T.U. at Upper Heyford on 8th September 1942 before moving to 26 O.T.U. at Wing on 12th October 1942. On 16th February 1943 a forced landed was made during a night flying exercise at Upper Culham Farm, Henley-on-Thames but the aircraft struck a defence post and was damaged. Cat.B/FA damage was the assessment though may have been repaired on site as the repair was made fairly quickly. Once repaired it was returned to 26 O.T.U. on 27th February 1943. On 31st August 1943 it passed to 48 MU to be placed in store. While being given a major inspection on 21st March 1944 repairs were found to be needed. The aircraft never re-appears and was listed as Re-Cat.E on 20th July 1944. which saw it being struck off charge on 9th August 1944.
