Spitfire BL303 at Hutton Cranswick airfield.

During the afternoon of 29th October 1942 twelve aircraft of 316 Squadron were flown a Wing formation exercise and this included both Spitfires BL684 and BL303. The formation landed at Hutton Cranswick airfield at 16.35hrs on completion of the exercise and begun taxying around the airfield. Spitfire BL684 was taxying when another of the squadron's aircraft taxied in front of him. The pilot of BL684 assumed that this was another of the aircraft that was close to him in the formation so made a left turn to follow it. This was not the case and when he turned left he turned into Spitfire BL303, a collision occurred and both aircraft were damaged.

Pilot - P/O Zdzislaw Henryk Przygodski PAF (P/1734).
