On the evening of 10th October 1942 this 425 Squadron aircraft took off from Dishforth airfield with the crew detailed to undertake a night training exercise. After two hours fifteen minutes flying the aircraft returned to Dishforth airfield and made a landing approach that was normal despite there being a gusty wind blowing. At 21.30hrs the aircraft landed but on touching down, the aircraft bounced and probably then stalled. A gust of wind caught the aircraft and the starboard wing suddenly dropped which it was felt would have given the pilot the impression that the starboard undercarriage had collapsed. A violent ground loop then occurred and the wingtip struck the ground. One member of the crew sustained a broken toe in the incident.

In a police record there is mention to an incident during the evening of 10th October 1942 that probably relates to Wellington BK333. This gives the location as being on the east side of the Boroughbridge Road near Dishforth with the time being at 20.20hrs (which could be the time the police were alerted rather than the accident time). The aircraft is reported to have been badly damaged. Nothing more is known about this incident if it is a different one to that involving BK333. The location given on the police report equates to it being on land near Low Grounds Farm and is possibly within the modern military boundary.
