On 10th October 1942 the tail wheel of this 25 O.T.U. aircraft collapsed on landing at Finningley after the aircraft over-ran a patch of uneven airfield surface. Minor damage to the aircraft resulted.

Wellington BK255 was built to contract B.124362/40 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd. at Hawarden and was awaiting collection in September 1942. The aircraft was received by 45 MU on 11th September 1942 and was taken on charge almost immediately by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 27th September 1942. As a result of the damage sustained there on 10th October 1942 minor Cat.Ac/FA damage resulted and it was repaired on site by a team from Fairfields. It was returned to 25 O.T.U. on 21st October 192 but on 21st January 1943 the aircraft was transferred to 30 O.T.U. at Hixon. On 2nd July 1943 it crashed while returning from a 'Nickel' operational flight near Exeter airfield with the loss of four crew. Cat.E2/FA damage was recorded and the aircraft was written off. It was struck off charge on 13th July 1943.
