On 3rd October 1942 this 15 (Pilot) Advanced Flying Unit aircraft undershot and then struck trees on approach to land at Leconfield airfield at 23.40hrs and crashed nearby. The aircraft was badly damaged. It was the pilot's first night solo landing.

Built to contract B.118356/40 by The de Havilland Aircraft Co.Ltd., at Hatfield and was awaiting collection in October 1941. It was taken on charge by No.9 Beam Approach Training Flight on 29th October 1941 who were based at Dyce. On 31st January 1941 9 B.A.T.Flt. was re-designated 1509 Flightt and the aircraft remained with the unit until 26th June 1942. After a short period of MU storage it was taken on charge by on 6th July 1942 at Leconfield. As a result of the crash on 3rd October 1942 the damaged was assessed as being Cat.E2/FA and it was written off.
