Hudson AM829 at Thornaby airfield.

On 11th July 1942 this No.6 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit aircraft collided with trees at Thornaby airfield and crashed. Nothing more is currently known about this incident.

Crew - Names unknown.


Hudson AM829 was built by The Lockheed Aircraft Corporation at Burbank, California, USA and was purchased without contract by the B.P.C. After completion by Lockheed it was allotted to the ATFERO to be flown to the UK. It arrived at Prestwick in August 1941 and after acceptance and preparation for RAF service at 24 MU it was taken on charge by No.6(C)O.T.U. on 20th February 1942. As a result of the crash on 11th July 1942 Cat.E2/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was written off.
