On 28th August 1942 four Spitfires landed at Skipton on Swale airfield, while one of them was taxying it tipped up onto its nose and received minor damage. The only reference to this incident located as yet is in the 420 Squadron ORB who were the resident Bomber Command squadron at Skipton on Swale at the time, unfortunately it does not give any other details about the Spitfire or it's unit.
