On 20th December 1942 this 426 Squadron aircraft lost its tail wheel while taxiing at Dishforth airfield. Wellington Z1599 carried the squadron code OW-A around this time.

Wellington Z1599 was built to contract B.97887/40 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd. at Hawarden and was awaiting collection in December 1942. It was allocated to 419 Squadron at Middleton St.George but never arrived there as it was taken on charge by 426 Squadron at Dishforth instead. As a result of the minor damage at Dishforth on 20th December 1942 Cat.A/FA damage was the result of the assessment and a repair on site was made. It sustained flak damage on 21st January 1943, again minor Cat.A/FB damage resulted and it was repaired on site. The aircraft was lost on 26th February 1943 when it crashed in Holland on Ops to Cologne. Cat.E(m) damage was recorded. Five of the six crew were killed.
