Unidentifed aircraft near North Ferriby.

On 11th October 1942 a civilian test pilot working for the Blackburn company based at Brough airfield was undertaking a flight around the local area when a problem developed with the aircraft and he opted to make a forced landing near North Ferriby. The extent of the damage to the aircraft was not known when I created this webpage but the pilot sustained minor injuries to the hands, face and legs, he also sustained a broken shoulder. The incident is recorded in the 4 EFTS ORB but it does not state what the aircraft involved was. They supplied a medical officer to the crash site and transported him to hospital in Beverley.

Test Pilot - Mr Thompson.

Although named as "Mr Thompson" in the 4 EFTS record book for the above incident Blackburns had a test pilot called F/Lt A C R Thompson (or Thomson) working for them around this date.
