Wellington X9622 was built to contract B.97887/39 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd. at Hawarden and was awaiting collection in May 1941. The aircraft was received by 23 MU on 22nd May 1941 and was then taken on charge by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 4th June 1941. As a result of the damage sustained there on 10th July 1941 minor Cat.A(c)/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. It's AM Form 78 suggests it sustained minor damage just before 24th October 1941 which resulted in a repair on site by a team from Vickers on that date and it being returned to 25 O.T.U. on 25th October 1941.
On 29th July 1942 it overshot on landing at Finningley and sustained either Cat Ac/FA or Cat.B/FA damage. It's AM78 states it was Cat.Ac/FA and repair being made by "Fairfields" with it returned to 25 O.T.U. on 5th September 1942. The aircraft next appears being taken on charge by 26 O.T.U. at Little Horwood on 1st October 1942. On 11th December 1942 it crashed on approach to land there. Cat.E2/FA Burnt damage was the damage assessment and it was written off. It was struck off charge on 24th December 1942.
