Spitfire X4930 at Leconfield airfield.
On 23rd July 1941 this 129 Squadron aircraft overshot on landing following a landing downwind at Leconfield airfield after a training flight. The aircraft struck a mound of sand with the undercarriage which was then broken off and the aircraft tipped over.
Pilot - Sgt Arthur James Godfrey Timmins RAFVR (924352). Minor injuries.
Arthur Timmins arrived at 129 Squadron from 52 OTU on 18th July 1941. He received a commission in November 1942 and survived the war.
