Hampden X3145 at Lindholme airfield.
On 13th June 1941 this 50 Squadron aircraft was being used on a night circuit flying exercise using Lindholme airfield. During one of the landings the landing was heavy, the aircraft bounced and the undercarriage collapsed.

Hampden X3145 was built to contract B.994449/39 by English Electic Co.Ltd., at Samlesbury and was awaiting collection in November 1940. It was allotted to 8 MU on 19th November 1940 and was received by them on 28th November 1940. The aircraft was taken on charge by 50 Squadron at Lindholme on 4th December 1940 and served with them until the crash at Lindholme on 13th June 1941 after which Cat.B damage was recorded. The aircraft was transported by road to be repaired in works but at some point a decision was made to convert the aircraft to a T.B. status. This repair and conversion took until many months. It was not until 29th December 1942 when it was taken on charge by 415 Squadron at Thorney Island. The aircraft was slightly damaged in a flying accident on 10th April 1943 that saw Cat.Ac/FB damage be the damage assessment. On the night of 16th / 17th July 1943 it failed to return from an anti-shipping patrol over the Bay of Biscay. A radio message was received from the aircraft but no trace was ever found and it's then crew are listed as missing. Cat.E(m) damage was recorded in the paperwork.
