Hudson T9294 at Thornaby airfield.

On 18th December 1941 this No.6 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit aircraft was damaged at Thornaby airfield when it overshot a landing there causing the port undercarriage leg to collapse.

Hudson T9294 was built by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation at Burbank, California and was purchased by the British Purchasing Commission. It arrived by sea at Liverpool Docks probably in May 1940 and was assembled and tested by the Lockheed Assembly Division (UK) Ltd at Speke later the same month. On 9th June 1940 it was flown to 12 MU. It was then taken on charge by No.1 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Silloth on 16th June 1940. It then went to 269 Squadron on 15th June 1940. The aircraft was transferred to No.6 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Thornaby on 12th November 1941. Following the mishap at Thornaby on 18th December 1941 the damage was assessed and it was struck off charge with Cat.E2/FA damage being the assessment
