Tiger Moth T5382 at Yeadon airfield.

On 20th May 1941 this 20 E.F.T.S. aircraft came to rest on it's back following a flying accident at Yeadon airfield and was slightly damaged.

Pilot - LAC Leslie Gordon Cursley RAFVR (1056784).


Leslie Cursley received a commission in July 1942. He survived the war having risen to F/Lt and served in the RAF until the mid-1950s.
This aircraft was built to contract 20916/39 by the Morris Motor Car Company Ltd. at Cowley and was awaiting collection in May 1940. It was taken on charge shortly afterwards by 12 EFTS at Prestwick. In early 1941 the aircraft was transferred to 20 EFTS at Yeadon and on 20th May 1941 it sustained Cat.B damage when was reported to have overturned at Yeadon. From Yeadon it was dismantled and transported by road for repair and on completion of the repair it was taken on charge by 18 EFTS at Fairoaks where the aircraft served out the remainder of it's RAF life. On 14th May 1947 it was flown into long term MU storagee and on 9th March 1950 it was struck off RAF charge and sold but it was never registered in the UK but may have been sold for scrap or registered abroad from which no record is currently known.
