Whitley T4331 at Topcliffe airfield.
On the night of 7th / 8th April 1941 this 77 Squadron undertook an operational flight to bomb shipbuilding yards at Kiel. The aircraft took off from Topcliffe at 20.36hrs and released their bomb load from 12,000 feet. The aircraft returned to the circuit of Topcliffe airfield but at 03.50hrs the aircraft landed fast, it overshot and struck the boundary fence, braking off the undercarriage.
