Unidentified aircraft near Scholes, Leeds.
Said to have been on the night of 1st / 2nd March 1941 an unidentified aircraft was forced landed in a field between Scholes and Aberford. It suffered slight damage.
Crew - Names unknown.
On this night Whitley T4235 is quoted elsewhere as being the aircraft involved in the landing at Scholes, however this is not correct. The 78 Squadron ORB lists this aircraft as crash landing near Honington airfield on the return at 04.00hrs. An AIR81 file exists for Whitley T4235 in the National Archives which states T4235 crashed at Scole, near Honington.
