Wellington T2510 at Snaith airfield.
On the night of 27th / 28th July 1941 this 150 Squadron aircraft was one of three of the unit being used on an operational flight to attack Dunkirk. This aircraft took off from Snaith at 22.25hrs and before reaching the objective the aircraft began to suffer engine problems so the crew turned around. Some flying instruments may also have been effected by the loss of power in the engine. While making an approach to land at Snaith at around 01.30hrs the struck what was described in the AM Form 1180 as a "high tension feeder". The pilot was able to remain in control and landed safely. The AM Form 1180 also states that this incident was not to be recorded as an accident and does not give any damage being sustained to the aircraft.
The following night the pilot was undertaking a night time landings exercise when he taxied Wellington R1463 into a ditch at Snaith airfield. Him being ordered to undertake night landing practice the following night seems to much of a coincidence for it not to have been a direct result of the potential mishap that might have occurred involving Wellington T2510 the previous day.
Unfortunately the 150 Squadron record book scribe was very poor in identifying their aircrew during 1941, the crew list of surnames has been take from an operational return and is the best I can offer currently.

Wellington T2510 was built by Vickers and after first passing through 23 MU it was taken on charge by 150 Squadron on 6th October 1940. After damage in October 1941 it was repaired and would serve with 29 OTU and 26 OTU. It was struck off charge on 7th August 1944 having been in MU store for possibly well over a year.
