Blenheim R3605 near Catfoss airfield.

On 30th June 1941 the pilot of this 2 (C)OTU aircraft made a fast landing at Catfoss and while attempting to overshot he raised the flaps to quickly, the aircraft sank back to the ground and crashed around a mile north of the airfield at Catfoss.

Joel Rogers was posted to 254 Squadron in July 1941. He received a commission on 27th April 1941 but was terminated on 31st March 1942.
Blenheim R3605 was built to contract 1485/39 by Rootes Securities Ltd. at Speke and was awaiting collection in March 1940. It was initially placed into MU storage and after a period of two months it was taken on charge by 53 Squadron in May 1940 who wee based at Poix, France at the time. The unit retreated to Crecy on 19th May 1940 and then later the same day to evacuate to Lympne. The next day the aircraft and the unit were moved to Andover. On 1st June 1940 it moved with the unit to Eastchurch, on 13th June 1940 with unit to Gatwick and on 3rd July 1940 with the unit to Detling. On or around 1st October 1940 it was taken on charge by 2 (C)OTU at Catfoss. as a result of the mishap on 30th June 1941 Cat.E/FA damage was recorded.
