Crew - Names unknown.
There are lots of unknowns in this aircraft's service history. Anson R3346 was built to contract B.12565/39 by A.V.Roe Ltd. at Newton Heath
and was awaiting collection in March 1940. It was taken on charge by 217 Squadron at St.Eval as later that year. It was transferred to 2 (C)OTU
at Catfoss in December 1940 when 217 Squadron ceased operating Anson MkI's. Following the mishap recorded above the very minor Damage of Cat.A/FA
was probably the result but it is not recorded in the Air Britain book listing the service history suggesting it was not recorded on the AM78 card.
It was almost certainly repaired on site and remained at Catfoss. On an unknown date after 17th January 1942 it was transferred to the newly
formed 6 AOS at Staverton and finished it's career with 2 (O)AFU at Millom. On 13th April 1944 it struck the sea five miles west of Millom on
approach to land. Following this incident Cat.E damage was recorded.
