On 28th July 1941 this No.6 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit Hudson crash landed at Thornaby and struck a number of groundcrew personnel, sadly one of those struck was killed while three others were injured. I have yet to obtain any further details relating to this incident. The Casualty File for those injuried identified the aircraft as being Hudson "P5318" but there was never a Hudson with the serial number P5318. It was probably Hudson P5138 which was a Hudson and was also on charge with No.6 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at the time. It also received a damage assessment by No.43 Group Damage Assessors two days later.
