Hudson P5119 was built to contract 791587/38 by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation at Burbank, California and was shipped to the UK, arriving at Liverpool Docks in February 1940. After this it was taken by road to the Lockheed Assembly Division (UK) Ltd. at Speke for assembly and testing. On 21st February 1940 it was received by 10 MU and on 5th April 1940 it was taken on charge by No.1 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Silloth. On 19th May 1940 it was transferred to 269 Squadron and on 26th August 1941 was issued to No.6 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Thornaby, possibly via an MU storage depot. After sustaining damage on 3rd December 1941 it received an assessment by the No.43 Group Damage Assessor which saw Cat.M/FA damage recorded and a repair on site was carried out. It resumed use by No.6 (C)O.T.U. on 27th June 1942. It was transferred back to No.1 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit on 30th September 1942 at Silloth. On 22nd March 1943 the unit moved to Thornaby. On 19th August 1943 it required a repair on site for unspecified damage. Much later, on 22nd October 1943 it passed to No.5 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit but on 10th November 1943 was sent for a repair in works after an inspection found a problem. It was never repaired and was Re-Cat.E on 17th December 1943.
