Hampden P4317 at Finningley airfield.
At 20.30hrs on 1st May 1941 this 25 Operational Training Unit aircraft was being flown on a training flight when the pilot accidentally landed with the undercarrige retracted. The pilot had made a slow approach to land and had noticed the flying speed was low so increased the throttle positions but this then blocked out his view of the undercarriage warning lights. It was the pilot's first solo flight in the Hampden.
