Tiger Moth N9370 at Brough airfield.
On 12th January 1941 this aircraft struck an unidentified Tiger Moth at Brough airfield while it was taking off damaging both aircraft slightly.
Pilot - LAC J P Marks RAFVR (1256604).
The pilot's name and service number are given in the 4 E.F.T.S. orb but I have not been able to fully identify him as yet.
Tiger Moth N9370 was built to contract 778402/38 by The de Havilland Aircraft Company Ltd. at Hatfield and was awaiting collection in November 1939. The date it was taken on charge by 4 E.F.T.S. at Brough is not yet known. There is no mention of the incident at Brough on 12th January 1941 in its published history but it was almost certainly repaired on site and continued to serve with 4 E.F.T.S. until being placed in long term MU storage prior to 10th March 1947. Post-WW2 it served with 23 MU at Aldergrove, 10 R.F.S. at Exeter, 22 R.F.S. at Cambridge, 62 Group Communications Flight and finally served with 81 Group Communications Flight at Colerne. On 18th September 1953 the RAF sold the aircraft and after that date nothing more has been found to document the history.
