Anson N5323 at Finningley airfield.

On 7th November 1941 this 25 O.T.U. aircraft collided with a concrete pill box at Finningley airfield and received minor damage.

Crew - Names unknown.


Anson N5323 was built to contract 766119/38 by A.V.Roe and Co.Ltd, at Newton Heath and was awaiting collection in August 1939. The aircraft was initially taken on charge by 23 E. and R.F.T.S. at Rochester soon after completion and moved with them to Sydenham on 2nd September 1939. A day later 23 E. and R.F.T.S. disbanded and became part of 24 E.F.T.S. at Sydenham. The aircraft next appears on charge with 12 F.T.S. at Grantham then with No.4 Ferry Pool at Prestwick before being transferred to 25 O.T.U. at Finningley. As a result of the damage sustained at Finningley on 7th November 1941 minor Cat.A(c)/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. On 10th March 1942 it was force landed in a field near Barnby Dun without damage. The aircraft next appears on charge with 14 O.T.U. at Cottesmore followed by a spell with 29 O.T.U. at Bruntingthorpe but the dates of transfer are not known. By 26th July 1945 it was in an MU store and on that date it was struck off charge.
